Ajoke Sobanjo-ter Meulen moved to Seattle a few years ago, together with her husband and two sons. Ajoke is pleased to have quickly become an active member of the wonderful community at EGLS, and has been a board member since 2015. In addition to providing a window of opportunity to learn about German culture and society, the excellent teachers at EGLS have helped her two boys successfully develop their German language skills. Ajoke is a pediatrician with extensive professional experience in academic patient care, industry, and global health. Currently, Ajoke is a Senior Program Officer at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, where she leads the maternal immunization initiative aimed at reducing newborn mortality in low-income countries. Ajoke grew up in both Germany and Nigeria, and worked and lived in Africa, Europe, and the US. She is eager to share her learning experiences with the students at EGLS.
