I am a native of Stuttgart, Germany. After completing formal training I worked in the administrative field for many years. In 1995, I moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where I continued my career, working in my field for German and Austrian companies while also studying business management in evening classes.
After moving to the Seattle area in 2003 and the birth of my daughter, I decided to change career paths and earned a certificate in English–German translation from Bellevue College. After that I worked for several years as a freelance translator.
In 2016, I taught my first German language course at EGLS – and quickly discovered how much I enjoyed teaching. Over the years, my focus shifted increasingly toward teaching German as a foreign language. Today, I teach adult learners online and in person, both in groups and individually.
Grammar and vocabulary matter, but language is much more than translating words. It opens doors to cultures, perspectives, and different ways of life. I strive to make my lessons lively, engaging, and welcoming – creating an atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable and enjoys learning.
